AKA Expeditions & Alaska Kite Guiding:
Alaska is an enormous place. The sights from the extremely limited road belt are some of the most beautiful views in the world. We want to show you whats beyond that limited range of view. Our Expeditions are to remote locations with relatively predictable wind patterns. Come travel across glaciers with us, park and play in some of the worlds most inspiring snowkite terrain with us, and let us show you an Alaska few have ever seen, and far fewer have ever kited. These Expeditions range in difficulty and skills needed, but most can be tailored to match your needs, skills, and desires. Our expeditions cover a variety of educational clinics that enable clients to stay safe in these environments and are therefore gear intensive. Gear lists and meal plans will be provided by your guides, as well as lists of experience needed for certain expeditions.

The AKA Roadtrip:
This is the epitome of a Dream Snowkiting Vacation. Meticulously poured over and designed by the AKA Boys, if we could take a dream vacation, well, we would go someplace tropical because we live in friggin Alaska, but if you want a dream vacation with snowkiting, than this is as good as it gets. Come chase wind and deep powder to some of the worlds most amazing kiting locations with us!

Eagle Glacier Snowkite Expeditions:
The Eagle Glacier is located just north of Girdwood AK. This recreational area offers an amazing glacial vista, mountaineering huts along a 3 glacier traverse, and lots of amazing kiting terrain, all within Anchorage City Limits. The Eagle Glacier Expedition offers glacier travel and winter camping clinics as well as many other recreational opportunities. In the past, we have experienced strong winds up, and down glacier, katabatic winds, and storm winds, allowing for kiting experiences for the beginner looking to learn this amazing sport in an amazing atmosphere, all the way up to the advanced kiter looking to push their skills and limits in a remote, glacial environment. The Eagle Glacier is easily reached for day sessions as well. A quick flight out of Girdwood and you find yourself in kiting heaven for the day. Then make it back to town in time for a beer at the local watering hole.

Inner Chugach Expeditions:
There is a place in the Inner Chugach Range, a place where few visit and none stay. A place where the average annual snowfall is over 1000 inches, and you have 5.4 million acres of mountains and glaciers to play in relatively all to yourself. A place where 100 mph winds are common and storms can last for days,... or for weeks. Just a short bush plane ride out of the Matanuska Valley and you’re in snowkite heaven. AKA utilizes bush plane accessible glaciers at higher altitude to extend our snowkiting season through June. We have had excellent success kiting and skiing in several different locations in the range and therefore have options on basecamp locations allowing for different terrain and down day options like ski mountaineering and touring as well as courses on winter camping, crevasse rescue, snow analysis, and kiting theory.

Other possible destinations:

Expedition Disclaimer:
“ We need wilderness because we are wild animals. Every man needs a place where he can go to go crazy in peace.  Every Boy Scout troop deserves a forest to get lost, miserable, and starving in... If only for the sport of it.  For the  terror, freedom, and delerium...”
Edward Abbey, from The Journey Home

With that in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to say that our expeditions are always at the whim of Mother Nature and are therefore based on goals, not certainties. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility. Our guides will help you make the most out of what the weather gives us, but we prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Thank you.
